A Journey from the Netherlands to South Africa

At the age of 13, Stefan, along with his family, made the significant move from the Netherlands to South Africa. The transition was a pivotal moment for Stefan and his sister, who both played crucial roles in helping Daan and Yvonne refurbish and rebuild De Leeuwenhof. Their efforts laid the foundation for what would become their cherished family home.

After settling into South African life, Stefan attended Bridge House School in Franschhoek and graduated in 2009. His high school years were marked by a seamless integration into the local culture, setting the stage for his future endeavors.

Academic Achievements and Global Experiences

Following high school, Stefan pursued higher education at Stenden University in Port Alfred, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Commerce. Eager to broaden his horizons, he spent six months in the Netherlands completing his Bachelor’s in Business Administration. Despite enjoying his time in Europe, Stefan soon realized that his heart belonged in South Africa. This realization led him back to De Leeuwenhof, where he began to focus on expanding and growing the estate.

A New Chapter: Building and Family Life

Upon returning to De Leeuwenhof, Stefan joined forces with his father, Daan, to oversee the construction of new rooms and to set the stage for the next generation of the family to take over. This period of growth and development marked a new chapter in the estate’s history, driven by Stefan’s vision and dedication.

In addition to his professional achievements, Stefan's life took a joyful turn with the arrival of his daughter, Charlotte-Rose van Leeuwen Boomkamp. As a father, Stefan has experienced a profound positive change. His patience, empathy, and sense of responsibility have deepened, and he finds immense joy in watching Charlotte-Rose grow and thrive. Her presence has brought a new dimension of happiness to the family and has further inspired Stefan in both his personal and professional life.

A Personal Touch at De Leeuwenhof

Today, Stefan shares the role of general manager at De Leeuwenhof with his sister. What sets De Leeuwenhof apart from other establishments is the personal touch that comes from having a family member always on hand. Stefan’s focus is on entertainment and guest communication, where his friendly and outgoing nature shines. He enjoys engaging with guests, sharing stories, and learning about their experiences. You’ll often find him by the fire, expertly grilling meats during our popular Braai evenings.

Stefan’s presence at De Leeuwenhof brings a unique blend of warmth, enthusiasm, and hospitality, ensuring that every guest feels like part of the family. His commitment to making each visit memorable reflects the deep connection he has with the estate and its rich history.
