A Fresh New Look for Our Cape Manor Apartments

Every now and then, even a much-loved space deserves a little refresh.

Our Cape Manor Apartments are among the oldest accommodation units at De Leeuwenhof Estate and have been part of our story almost from the very beginning. Over the years, they have seen a few changes, welcomed countless families and become a firm favourite with guests visiting Paarl and the Cape Winelands.

And now, they have a fresh new look.

A Touch of Olive Green
While De Leeuwenhof Estate will always remain true to its Cape Dutch character, we also believe that a historic property should continue to evolve.

The Cape Manor Apartments have recently been refreshed with a softer, more contemporary feel. A touch of olive green, warm natural tones and updated finishes have brought new life into the apartments while still complementing the character of the estate.

The result is a space that feels fresh and inviting, without losing the relaxed, homely atmosphere that has always made these apartments special.

Where Our Guesthouse Story Began
What makes the Cape Manor Apartments particularly special to us is their history.

When the Van Leeuwen Boomkamp family moved from the Netherlands to South Africa, the apartments were originally created as a place for visiting family and friends to stay.

There was no grand hotel plan behind them at the time. They were simply comfortable spaces where the people coming to visit could have a little place of their own while staying on the estate.

But something unexpected happened.

Friends stayed, family visited, word spread, and guests started recommending De Leeuwenhof to other friends and family.

What began as accommodation for visitors gradually grew into something much bigger.

Those first apartments became part of the beginning of De Leeuwenhof Estate Guesthouse, which over the years continued to expand into the 17-room estate we have today.

So, although they may have a fresh new look, the Cape Manor Apartments will always hold an important place in our history.

Made for Families
The Cape Manor Apartments are particularly well suited to families travelling through the Cape Winelands.

Each apartment can accommodate 2 adults and up to 2 children aged 16 years or younger. The generous open-plan duplex layout provides plenty of space for a family to settle in and make themselves comfortable.

And why not four adults?

Well… the apartments may be spacious, but they are also very much open plan. Perfect when travelling with your children. Perhaps slightly less perfect when travelling with another couple and everyone suddenly discovers just how well they know each other!

For that reason, we keep the apartments as family accommodation rather than offering them to four adults or two couples.

Guests also have their own private terrace, as well as convenient access to our quieter back swimming pool — perfect for cooling off after a summer day exploring Paarl and the surrounding Winelands.

The Same Story, With a Fresh Chapter
We love that these apartments have grown and changed alongside De Leeuwenhof Estate itself.

From welcoming family and friends from the Netherlands all those years ago, to welcoming families from around South Africa and across the world today, their purpose has actually changed very little.

They are still a place to arrive, unpack, slow down and feel at home.

They simply look a little fresher while doing it.
